» WELCOME.
Welcome to Strange Aeons! Happy to have you here; let's write horrifying and sweet things together. This will serve as a game welcome and an OOC intro post, as well as the Shiokawa Herald! The Shiokawa Herald is an OOC newsletter of sorts that tells players about the Doom Meter — threat levels, where to avoid, what's popping up and creeping around — as well as the current Old God's rules and ways to stave off the impending [VOID NOISES].
» OLD GOD'S RULE.
The current God in charge is Goizo, the Thing Forsaken by God.
Things feel stable, not like there's a conflict going on; characters will feel far more at ease the further they can get from their homes, and especially mirrored surfaces. Being around reflective surfaces makes their sanity wane, and it makes it impossible to rest knowing there's a God lurking about in a mirror dimension. Seeing, knowing. Teeth gnashing, eyes rolling. Blood dripping, throats slashed—
You're daydreaming a lot more, you find, about horrifying things that seem to fade away from the forefront of your mind when your attention comes to. All you can remember is a state of terror.
» DOOM METER & SANITY CHECKS.
General threat level: low.
All areas are low in terms of threat, but a little higher in the city than it is on the shoreside. You might run into a few cultists or fanatics, but nothing beyond one or two of them.
Feels like something bad is on the horizon, but ... Is that true? Can you rely on your gut in a place like this? Even questioning yourself makes you feel a bit crazier ...
As always, contact with one's Covenmates will help sanity return to you. So will the sanity checks in the TDM:
» Break a mirror, cast the shards in the sea. Men at the bar near the shore will tell you this, but so will kind mothers at the park, noticing your distress and unease.
» Tell your secrets to the sea, or better yet: someone you haven't met yet. You might feel compelled to do this on your own.
» Sing the song bouncing around in your skull. A child — wide eyed but grinning, making you feel peaceful — will tell you that you should.
» "Do something that scares you," an old man tells you, "With the ones against you." You know immediately he's talking about someone from another Coven, the one that makes you shiver and shake.
Just be careful, just be mindful.
